![]() Do you have an ugly light fixture that you think could work ok if you knew how to update it? Use today’s post, How to Paint a Chandelier, to update your light. I seriously can’t believe how much of a difference cleaning, priming and spray painting can make. I thought I understood how much it helps, but I am reminded once more. For the past six months, you have walked in through our front door and seen this: Scary, right? I actually kinda love the placement of the chandelier. It’s over a half circle and it’s just pretty. Do I love the bright gold? ![]() I had put off trying to get Luke to take it down for awhile. It hangs about 16 feet from the ceiling and, let’s just say, I knew it would be a pain to get down and up again. I shouldn’t have waited so long. First things, first. I took all of the glass jewels off (even dropped one and it didn’t break – whew). Were they filthy? I think that’s an understatment. After taking the jewels off, I soaked them in super hot water with dish soap. I left them in about 20 min and stirred them a few times. I took them out and just let them dry on a towel. Beautifulness right there. Next, I devised a way (akaladder) to hang the chandelier to paint. It took half a can of primer (Rustoleum Clean Metal) and a whole can of spray paint (Valspar Peacock). *Affiliate links below. Thanks for supporting this blog.. First, I primed the chandelier with a clean metal primer. I specifically used. After following the painting guidelines on the can, I followed the primer with a few coats of Valspar Peacock spray paint. A chandelier isn't just a decorative accessory or a real estate investment, it's the focal point in a dining room or entryway that welcomes visitors into your home. If you like the general. Kai and I aren’t really in the position to replace our dining room chandelier right now but that doesn’t mean that I can’t make the best of the old one! ![]() ![]()
